Dear Friends
This coming Sunday I will not be with you for worship. It will be my joy to officiate at the wedding for Samantha Black and Mike de Jourdan which is taking place at Camp Manitou near Parry Sound on Saturday afternoon and evening. We want to extend our congratulations to Mike and Sam and to bless them in their life together as husband and wife. It will be my joy and delight to be apart of this celebration.
In my place Brian Irwin will bring the message and he will continue our exploration of Philippians with a focus on Philippians 3:1-11. In this passage the Apostle Paul addresses the importance of focusing on Christ and righteousness through faith, contrasting it with the value placed on worldly achievements and legalistic practices. Paul recounts his impressive Jewish heritage and accomplishments, but he declares these "rubbish" in comparison to knowing Christ and attaining the resurrection. He emphasizes that true righteousness comes through faith in Christ, not through adhering to the law or pursuing external achievements.
I am also pleased to announce the birth of Joanna Friesen to Lauren and Silas Friesen last Friday night. Joanna is doing well. Lauren is recovering over this past week and is receiving so much support and love from Silas and the rest of our families. Gwenna and I are thrilled to be new grandparents. As a new Grampa I am enjoying holding and rocking with my new granddaughter. God is good!
Pastor Stephen Rothery is Glenbrook’s new Interim Moderator and has provided an information package about the next steps in the process of the search and the calling of a new pastor for Glenbrook. If you would like to know more please contact Andrea at the office and she can provide either a digital or paper copy. Pastor Stephen will be meeting with our Session this Tuesday to continue our transition process.
I hope that you have a lovely weekend and Happy Father’s Day!
Blessings
