what we believe
As Presbyterians, we believe in the triune God of grace. In other words, God is one God, yet revealed in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe that the Bible is the written revelation of who God is. In the Bible we encounter Jesus Christ, who is the Incarnate Saviour and Lord of the world, who died and rose again so that we might know God and enjoy God both now and forever.
It is important to gather weekly for worship and to also regularly experience the sacraments of Communion and Baptism. A sacrament is an outward visible sign of God’s inward work and promise of grace. They are an outward sign in that they contain a material element (bread, wine and water) but they signify something significant, namely the washing away of our sins, our union with Christ and the promises Christ gives to us.
We also believe that we are called to be participants in building God’s kingdom on earth. Jesus called his disciples to follow his example and to serve others in love, compassion and justice. (Luke 9:25/ Matthew 28:19) In reaching out with the compassion of Jesus in our work and service, in our congregation, community and the world, we see ourselves as participating in what God is already doing in the world.
