July 4, 2025
Hello Glenbrook,
As we continue to navigate our way with many changes here at Glenbrook, I thought about how things change all the time, how we adapt to city landmarks changing, public squares being renamed, streets being renamed, co-workers coming and going. Nothing is permanent, everything changes. The same goes for places that don’t change at all and that reminds me of a quote that I love.
“There is nothing like returning to a place that remains unchanged to find the ways in which you yourself have altered.” - Nelson Mandela
An interesting perspective on change and how we can’t really control whether change happens or not but what we can change is how we adapt and move forward and just as importantly how we help others adapt along the way.
Have a safe & great week,
Andrea
LETTER & SURVEY FROM PASTOR STEPHEN
Hi folks
I met with Session this week, and we spoke about what the coming months might look like. While a Search Committee hasn’t been formed yet, I’ll be around and working through the summer, collaborating with both Session and members of the Glenbrook congregation to get things rolling throughout July and August.
I’m also working with the worship team to support Sunday worship services during this time and will be joining you on July 6 to “Preach the Pulpit Vacant” following Rev. Ian’s retirement at the end of June. (Though I may bump into you at Church events at Glenbrook prior to this)
In the meantime, I’d love to hear from congregation members about what they value most about being part of Glenbrook, their hopes and dreams for future mission and ministry, and any ways they might be able to contribute during this season of transition.
I put together a short survey here that will collect responses until mid July: https://forms.office.com/r/hKv29Z9X4J
Finally, I encourage you to continue praying for your community—especially for those on Session who carry particular leadership responsibilities during this time.
Thanks and God Bless
Rev Stephen Rothery
GLENBROOK ANNOUNCEMENTS
LEMONADE ON SUNDAYS
There is currently no one signed up this week for lemonade, so please see the sign-up sheet on the lobby table. It has specific dates to be filled in with volunteer drink servers. This is a valuable time in each of our Sunday mornings that allows for catching up with one another in our church family. The lemonade will be pre-made and in the fridge. Cups and napkins will be in the kitchenette all ready to place on the rolling cart to bring outside the doors after service. Thanks for giving your time to participate in an activity that keeps this little community close. Blessings.
YOUTH MINISTRY
Activity Bags and Books will be available for any children and youth attending our summer services. These can be chosen, taken into the service and returned to the table as you depart. Your Children's and Youth Ministry Committee is working towards a new Sunday Morning program for September. Please keep this committee in prayer.
