Hello Glenbrook,

I hope everyone is doing well. It looks like the “What’s New” reached everyone with no hiccups last Friday and so for that I am grateful!

I was on the shores of Lake Huron last weekend and I could notice the leaves are slightly turning colour around there.  Apparently, the Northern Lights were quite visible as close as Barrie last Sunday night which is pretty incredible!  We have quite a full newsletter today so be sure to scroll all the way down, have a great week and see you next Friday.

We received an e-mail from Margaret Mills, as you all know she celebrated her 100th birthday recently and Irene and George went to visit her and brought her flowers and a card. The email reads;

Dear Friends,

Thank you for sending the beautiful birthday card. It is a treasure! As Irene read the names, I was able to recall your faces. I miss being able to attend church services and seeing you all. But I am thankful that I can regularly be part of the service on my computer.

God's blessing on you all

Margaret Mills

A MESSAGE FROM PASTOR STEVE

Vacancy Update from Pastor Steve

First, Session recently approved the formation of a Search Committee which will be responsible for putting together a congregational profile to start advertising the vacancy within the broader PCC. We are aiming to have our first meeting in the next week or so and will share some updates as they come.

Secondly, Rev. Dr. Victor Shepherd has offered to provide consistent supply preaching at Glenbrook over the coming months. We are working through the details of confirming this at the Presbytery meeting that happens this week.

Continue to keep Glenbrook in your prayer and continue to encourage and support one another during this time of transition. 😊

DEVOTIONAL

This Devotion is for Margaret Mills as I know she loves reading them in the “What’s New” and it reminded me of something she said to me over the phone the other day.  She said “time flies” in regard to how fast the years go by and so I found this Devotion very fitting. Enjoy!

What Time is it?

I have a mantle clock. It needs winding about once a week. Because it chimes the hour, re-setting it is a pain if I forget to wind it and it stops, because I would have to allow all the chimes to cycle. So, when it stops, I wind up the two springs, but it doesn't start by itself. One little bump will send it into motion. So, I wait. 9:43. 10:34. 11:15. When the day gets to the right time, I give it a bump, and away it goes, telling the right time.

This time, I was waiting for 9:30 to come. I was busy as I waited, washing dishes, tidying up, checking emails. Then, it was time. Bump. And I thought about God — and the right time. At the right time, in His grand scheme, things will happen — not in my time. Sometimes, I try to hurry God along, and it doesn't work very well. Everything is wrong, out of sync, mixed up, like my clock chiming at the wrong hour.

It takes patience to wait: eyes and hearts to know when to move in God's plan. God has a time. It is the right time. May we all have ears to hear and eyes to see God's timing.
