October 2, 2026

Hello Glenbrook!

Welcome to October, Glenbrook family! Fall is officially here, and it has already been a beautiful season. I recently had family visit from far away, and they were completely amazed by a glimpse of our gorgeous changing leaves. We also made a trip down to the Credit River to watch the incredible salmon run—it was amazing to see the fishermen wrestling with the salmon! I hope you are all doing well.  We have plenty of updates for you, so please scroll all the way down to catch them all.

  • Muffins for Missions is happening THIS Sunday!

  • A huge thank you to everyone who participated in and supported Junk in the Trunk.

You can find all of the details and more announcements listed below!

Have a great week everyone,

That brings us to this announcement, Meghan Nicholls, chief executive officer of Foodbanks Mississauga will be welcomed as our guest speaker at church this Sunday. ERIN MILLS CHURCH CAMPUS 2026 ANNUAL  FIRE DRILL

As with prior year’s mandatory fire drills, the Erin Mills Church Campus, which houses both the St. Thomas a-Becket Anglican Church and the Glenbrook Presbyterian Church, held its annual two fire drills on Sunday September 27th.

The first fire drill was held for the St Thomas a-Becket’s 8 AM church service while the second fire drill was held for the St. Thomas a-Becket’s and Glenbrook Presbyterian’s 10 AM services.

Prior to sounding the fire bell, the congregations and the safety team were reminded of what to do when the fire bell was activated.

At 10 minutes after the congregations were seated in their respective Churches the bell ringer sounded the fire bell.

The fire drill proceeded calmly with each congregation exiting the Erin Mills Church campus in a timely manner. When the campus was empty I, as the Acting Fire Marshall, for EMCC, dutifully checked the interior to ensure that all proceed correctly only to find that the left exit door in the Anglican sanctuary was left open. Luckily, this was only a drill.

Many thanks to them and to our fire alarm team consisting of Detlef Braunschweiger, Ryan Heidebrecht, Carlene Simpson (Fire Marshall-STAB), Diana Stewertson and Ingrid Brown (The Bell Ringer).

Blessings to all

George Thompson

GOOD NEIGHBOUR FOOD GRAIN CAMPAIGN

JOIN OUR GLENBROOK Good Neighbour Food Grain Campaign THIS FALL!

Our campaign runs from September 20 through October 18, 2026 (however, you may donate at any time)

Our Food Grains project is an amazing way we are responding to urgent world food needs with our partnership with local farmers who grow the grains & donate the proceeds with partner contributors to the Canadian Foodgrains Bank. This charity is active in many places of Food Insecurity in our world.

‍‍We thank God for calling us to this mission of mercy & love!

Our goal is to reach $6,000 for world food relief. However, last year we achieved $10,000 and we are hopeful we can exceed our target this year!

NOTE: Our Canadian government through our partner Canadian Foodgrains Bank, provides added funding of up to 4X this amount & greatly increases our contributions!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY - SECURITY & FIRE MONITORING

‍‍We are looking for a volunteer to assist the Board of Managers with the Security and Fire Monitoring portfolio.

‍‍Anyone with experience in either area would be of help to our committee or if anyone is interested in learning about this role please contact Margaret Leaver Power at 905-330-7273.

Thank you.

‍‍MORE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

We are looking for one or more volunteers, to take on the task of every second month, bringing inside the Garbage Bins from the street, back into the church.

Steve Khan had taken on this task in the past for many years, so now we need someone to take over, or have a shared responsibility.

This task involves taking in the bins every Wednesday, as the Garbage is taken out by the cleaners every Tuesday night.

This could be done anytime of day on Wednesday.

St Thomas a Beckett does have their own volunteer to do this every other month, as a shared responsibility between both churches

‍‍Please consider this volunteer task and let Margaret Leaver-Power know if you can help

Blessings,

Margaret Leaver-Power
