January 23, 2026
Hello Glenbrook!
Hello again, I hope everyone is well.
I want to bring to attention that the weather forecast for Sunday is uncertain. We'll try to let you know by 7pm on Saturday evening if church is cancelled via email on Facebook and Church website. In the meantime, we will keep our eyes on the weather and see how it unfolds. If you feel at all uncomfortable due to temperature or driving conditions please stay safe and warm at home.
Thank you,
Andrea

OUR GLENBROOK MISSIONS-HEARTED TRAVELLER JOHN ROE is off again.
This Saturday John and his son Michael are leaving for El Salvador with a Build Team from Wingham, ON. Glenbrook's Missions Project Fund has been employed to cover the costs involved in building 1 family home and an additional home is being built by this team through a donation from a generous congregation member.
In the coming months John hopes to bring some members of the Wingham Willing Workers to Glenbrook to speak about their experiences working on this Mission Trip.
The Missions and Outreach committee aims to make the Shelter charity organization a new International focus for all of us here at Glenbrook. You can read more about their wonderful Christian approach to working with El Salvadorian people on their website.
Wingham Willing Workers — Shelter
Please keep the travels and work of John and Michael in your dedicated prayers.
Our first Open Door lunch date is Thursday, February 5th.
Donations of desserts (maybe cupcakes this time) and of salads will be needed.
Please see the Lobby Table Sign Up Sheet this Sunday. There are 3 Sundays before we need to know where all the donations are coming from. Thanks in advance.
SUNDAY SCHOOL & NURSERY
We could use some more volunteers to help with Sunday School and the Nursery. If you are interested, please see Nancy Law (family.outreach@glenbrook.ca)
FAMILY FELLOWSHIP EVENTS
In November we had a Family Fellowship Discussion to plan upcoming events. We mainly discussed ideas for Christmas at that meeting. I would love to have your ideas for other church-wide fellowship events. Please join me on Sunday, February 8th following the service to continue the conversation.

CAMP CAIRN
I started going to Camp Cairn when I was 8 and it has been such an important part of my life and my faith development. I still attend programs like the work weekend, family camp and fall retreat weekend. This year there is a program called “Away at the Lake” that allows you to share all the camp programming with family and friends. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have about camp.
For more information about camp, please visit their website:

COLDEST NIGHT OF THE YEAR WALK
I have volunteered at the Dam Youth Drop-In Centre for a few years and can see the difference that they make in the lives of the youth who attend their programs. That is the reason that I am walking in the Coldest Night of the Year walk on Saturday, February 28. The funds raised will help the Dam to continue their Lunch, Afterschool and Leadership programming. To join the walk or to donate, please see the link below.

Glenbrook Presbyterian Church - Board of Managers
January 15th 2026
We are looking for 3 Members at Large to attend our monthly meetings
We meet the second Tuesday of every month at 7:00pm at the church, except July and August.
The Board of Managers is a team of approximately 10 people who serve the Lord and our Church Community as it pertains to the operation of the building, and various other committees.
Areas include Envelope Secretary, Treasurer/Bookkeeper, Health and Safety, Fire, Security, Insurance and tracking Assets, and Leading with Care.
This role is ideal for someone who is willing to contribute to the committee, share ideas, and support the work of the Board, but not have a specific portfolio to manage.
If you are someone that has a banking background, this would be helpful to our committee, or if you have a background in Fire Safety, this would also be an asset to the Board.
Responsibility:
Attend regular meetings once per month
Participate in the discussions
Bring forward ideas or concerns from the perspective of a broader member-at-large stance
Assist with general tasks as needed
Benefits of Joining:
Serving the Lord with your given Spiritual gifts
Build connections with others withing the church
Learn how the church operates behind the scenes
If interested:
Please see Margaret Leaver-Power, Chair Board of Managers
