Hello Glenbrook!

I hope everyone is doing well, a BIG thank you to everyone who attended the AGM meeting on Sunday and all the work everyone puts into it every year.  Please remember that we "spring forward" this Sunday at 2 am, and we jump to 3 am.

Our deepest condolences goes out to the Mills family, I had the pleasure of speaking to Margaret Mills a handful of times over the phone when she wanted to send an email to the Glenbrook family.  She wanted to thank everyone for the birthday wishes that she had received. I recall her saying to me that there may be a few mistakes in her email and if I could read it over ☺️ I replied "Margaret, I can only dream of reaching 100 years old and sending emails through my computer, absolutely no worries at all"  May I add, there were no mistakes.

I'm sad I never got a chance to meet her personally. I know she loved reading the Devotionals so todays Devotion is dedicated to her. Prays to her family and may she rest in eternal peace.

DEVOTIONAL

BEYOND THE CLOUDS

It was late afternoon as I gazed out the car window and watched the changing scenery. An enormous, thick, grey cloud deck loomed over the countryside. My eyes travelled across its bleak underbelly, searching for its end, but found none. Its grey hue loomed over everything in sight, leaving behind a dull and lifeless landscape. Defeated, I settled back into my seat, giving up any hope of seeing a sunset on this ride home.

Suddenly, off in the distance, several beams of light began piercing through the dense cloud. I love to see these pillars of light descend from above. My heart beat faster as I looked on in anticipation. Another cluster of sunbeams pierced the cloud, connecting heaven with earth. Before long, a tiny hole developed in the cloud, revealing the blue sky and brilliant sunlight hidden on the other side. Joy flooded my heart, and my spirit soared. The sun's brief breakthrough lasted only long enough for God to speak to my heart, before its presence was concealed beyond the cloud layer once again. God reminded me that the sun is always shining beyond the clouds. That brief encounter with the sun/Son refreshed my sagging spirit and carried me home.

Just as the clouds in the sky can be dispersed by a breeze or penetrated by the powerful rays of the sun, the clouds of life can also be altered by the power of the Son. When the wind of the Spirit blows or the light of God's love shines on us, we receive our breakthrough, and our dark clouds seem to dissolve, bathing us in the light of His love. When the Son's light penetrates our dark cloud, we see things with new eyes and clarity.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Your Son as a light into this dark and fallen world. May the light of His love shine brightly in our lives today, providing us with new hope and renewed strength to face this day. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen

MISSIONS AND OUTREACH COMMITTEE SPECIAL GUESTS

In February John Roe and his son Michael travelled to El Salvador with the Mission Group, Shelter. Shelter at shelterhelps.com is a Christian organization that builds and trains community leaders, and works alongside families to create secure, affordable housing. Hundreds of homes are built with local help yearly.

The Missions and Outreach Committee eagerly awaits a special opportunity coming to Glenbrook’s service on Sunday March 22nd. Ed and Brenda Stein, leaders of the Wingham Willing Workers will lead us through the build trip that John and his son took part in.

Following the service there will be a El Salvadorian themed lunch provided in the Hearth Room. You are all invited to sign up to attend this lunch. Numbers will help us to have enough food for all to taste a bit of another country where God’s work is being accomplished.

EASTER AT GLENBROOK - A Family Friendly Celebration

‍‍Glenbrook will host a family friendly celebration of Easter on Saturday, March 28thfrom 3:00-5:00pm. We are planning crafts and games that will be a lot of fun! We will also have the spirituality centre that was available during the pancake supper set up in the Sanctuary again. If you would like to help with the celebration, please see Nancy.

GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENT

We have been having a recurring and somewhat problematic situation over the past few months.

Our church is committed to loving our neighbours and caring for those in need. We want to ensure our assistance does not enable negative behaviour. When you encounter someone asking for money on church property, we encourage you to follow Jesus’ call to show love. Please look them in the eye, smile, and offer a kind word or prayer. You can offer them a ‘Resource Card’ from the Lobby Table. These cards list information about The Open Door and local Food Banks and social services, providing long-term care that is more helpful than cash. If the person is in the building, please direct them to remain until after the service to speak with the Pastor, a Session member or our Family Outreach Coordinator Nancy Law.

Thank you for being a part of helping others with wisdom and grace.
