October 17, 2025
Hello Glenbrook!
I hope everyone is doing well, as we enter the cooler months it’s lovely to walk along trails, this weather is perfect for that. It’s amazing how busy all the little animals are preparing for the long winter months ahead. It’s a lot of work gathering all those nuts! I would guess the next 2 weeks will be peak colours around here, the Credit River area is already looking beautiful. We have many announcements in this week’s e-mail so please be sure to read them all.
A quick mention about Nursery volunteers. Our volunteer list is quite short, and it becomes very challenging to cover all the Sundays so if anyone is available ladies OR gentlemen for Sunday nursery volunteering, please let us know, you can email the office or leave us a message by phone or by person. Thank you!
Keep well, enjoy your week and don’t forget to join us this Sunday October 19th we are blessed to have Rev. Dr. Victor Shepherd join us and Brian Irwin will join us on October 26th.

IN MEMORIAM
With heavy hearts we remember the life and legacy of John Sterns who passed away on October 7th, 2025. John served as Chair of the Erin Mills Campus (EMCC) for 39 years, wisely shepherding members through many changes and challenges across both churches. He helped spearhead numerous projects that benefited the entire community. His passing leaves a profound void at EMCC and in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. In meetings, he was thoughtful and fair. In moments of challenge, he was a steady hand. He reminded us that leadership is not about power, but about service.
The Board mourns not just the loss of a chair but the absence of a cherished friend whose presence made us better.
Our deepest condolences to Christie, Rebecca, and Danielle during this very difficult time.
A MESSAGE FROM PASTOR STEVE
Vacancy Update from Pastor Steve
Session has appointed a Search Committee, and we held our first meeting this week.
The Search Committee members are:
Conrad Fujimoto, Elayne Thomson, Grace Thomas, Justice Agyemang, Margaret Leaver Power, Nancy Alexander, Samantha De Jourden, and Ward Pipher.
The first task of the committee will be to prepare a Congregational Profile. This will involve consultation with the congregation, likely beginning later in October or early November. In the meantime, if you have any questions about the process, or if you would like to share your hopes and dreams for Glenbrook, please feel free to speak with any of the committee members. Above all, I invite you to keep them in your prayers as they begin this important process of discernment.
Thanks, and God bless,
Pastor Steve
GLENBROOK ANNOUNCEMENTS
OUR NEW FAMILY OUTREACH CO-ORDINATOR
Please welcome our newest addition to the Glenbrook family!
“Hello! I am Nancy Law, your new Family Outreach Coordinator. My son and I have lived in Mississauga for the past 30 years. I have been involved with Children and Youth ministries at Dixie Presbyterian Church here in Mississauga. I also volunteer at The Dam Youth Drop-In Centre on Tuesday afternoons.
I have loved going to camp since I was 8 years old and am a huge Christian Camping supporter. I am part of Camp Cairn’s Alumni Committee. I truly do feel closest to God when I am in nature and love outdoor activities.
I play acoustic guitar and sing. My friends and I like to get together and play guitar, and we also host coffee houses several times a year.
In my professional life, I worked as a supply chain analyst for a Chemical company. I am now happily retired from that industry and delighted to be taking on this new role at Glenbrook.
A big welcome to Nancy and be sure to introduce yourselves when you see her!

As someone who is new at Glenbrook, it was my absolute pleasure to attend The Open Door lunch on Saturday. It gave me a chance to see the church at work in the community. I wanted to thank everyone who donated food, those who came out to serve and those who support this mission with prayer. It is so greatly appreciated by so many! Thank you!!

I would like to hear what has worked in the past and what hasn’t. I would love to hear your ideas for future fellowship events. Please meet me after church on Sunday, November 2 in the Hearth room to get the discussion started.

Live Stream Issues - The Audio/Video team have been working to resolve periodic problems with the Live Stream of our Worship Services. Without going into the technical details of the cause of the problems and several attempts to fix these, Caroline and George believe they now have a resolution to the problem and have created a "checklist" of equipment settings that will be followed before each Service begins.
